Great info. Thank you. I know you can't control/fully suppress a close/direct hit. I do have some electric/electronic background, but don't like to deal with residential.
MOV pack at point of entry, short to ground at spike, trip breaker or blow pole fuse. Winning.
It's not perfect, but it works well. A phase monitor and isolation contactor on your primary supply is even better.
Of course, when you're dealing with RF gear it's harder when you've got lightening rods mounted in the sky (antennas).
PTC packs on incoming phone lines can help also.
