Because monitoring is pretty much worthless(it will take 15-30 minutes for the police to show up), spend extra money on extra sirens and flashing lights, battery backup, cell phone communication, etc. When mine goes off, all hell breaks loose in noise and lights. It's your basic shock & awe, scare the living **** out of them deal. Also, DO NOT rely on just one system. Have backups. I personally have hidden motion sensor backups that call ME and let me listen in.

Monitoring is definitely not "worthless" as you say. It could be the difference of you knowing something is going on at your home and trying to get yourself or someone there along with the police, and just showing up at home from work hours and hours after the asswipe thieves have already pawned all your stuff.
Also, what I inform my customers of is that most insurance companies give a decent discount for having a monitored alarm. As long as your alarm company is not ripping you off, the cost of monitoring is mostly negated by your insurance discount.

Monitoring is definitely not worthless in Moore. My house alarm went off once & I missed the call from the alarm company because I was distracted trying to work the key pad. I called the alarm company back & a black & white was in front of my house before I could get my info to the operator. Alarm to cop in the driveway took less than 5 minutes - it blew my mind. I live pretty close to the station too so I am sure that helps.

Advance is a good company as well as Guardian. Both are local companies with local monitoring and local service. Some companies use contractors to service alarms when they have problems. Not always a bad thing but sometimes is.

As Elec Mike said, look at the contract and ask questions. Compare the price to install and the monthly fee. Cell transmitters are a bonus as its not dependent on your phone lines and there are a bunch of folks who don't have home phones anymore.

Also get quotes from more than one company and then play them against each other. You can get more free stuff and possible a lower monthly payment.

This, If memory serves me right if you get both fire and burglary protection on your monitered alarm then you should get a 20% discount on homeowners insurance premiums. I would call Keelty and let him get you fixed up!
