I called the CCSO today [6/16/2009]. They take fingerprints by appointment only; Today I scheduled to be printed July 29th.

Turned in my application today [7/29/2009], so the wait now technically begins.

Of course, the beginning of June, I scheduled my appointment for printing and application in Cleveland County, so really I had to wait 7 weeks just to apply!

OSBI hit my Visa card for the $200 today (10 year license).

Saga to Date:
6/16/2009 Called Cleveland County to schedule application appointment
7/29/2009 Completed application and prints at Cleveland County Sheriff
8/6/2009 Application received by and VISA charged by OSBI

I took the class at Sgt. Everett's Pistol Range in Norman. I am thrilled that there is a place to shoot in Norman! Then I found out there was a six week wait to be fingerprinted. I finally got printed on August 3rd.

I have a bad feeling that I will have to get printed again, because I have gone through the same process to be a certified teacher. Back then, I was fingerprinted with ink twice in Norman. Both were rejected by the OSBI. Then I had to go up to the OSBI to get digitally scanned.

Considering how "useless" the ink versions were, you would think that sheriff departments like Cleveland County would find the money for a scanner. I'm guessing that a month of nonstop fingerprinting at $25 a pop would buy them a nice shiny new digital scanner.
(I have to complain about something.)

Everyone I have dealt with has been very polite and helpful. So the only pain is waiting. At least it will be easy to conceal when I get my license in November.

Wow! We're on the same pace. OSBI hit my card today too, for $200. I decided to go for the 10 year given how convoluted this whole process is!
