MOORE, Oklahoma -- A Moore High School student was discovered with a handgun on campus Wednesday morning, according to Moore Police.
A letter from the Moore High School principle went out to parents Wednesday evening to notifying them of the incident.
Moore Police said, around 10:30 a.m. a campus resource officer, who was investigating a report of students smoking, discovered the student with a gun.
"He had it in his hand whenever the officer saw him. He started to put it back in his waistband and the officer told him to drop the gun," said Moore Police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis.
The student was taken into custody by the campus resource officer and transported to a juvenile facility.
The student will be facing a charge of having a firearm in school.
"This is the second time in a year a student was found with a gun at school," Lewis said.
Police said no threats were made.
