And we come to a two way stop in a residential neighborhood, her and I look both ways, (shes Driving)
Then slowly pulls forward, we both saw the Dodge Ram 3000 flatbed coming our way but it was coming way to fast, she has time to look at me and say. Were going to get hit. Her 8-yrd daughter in the back seat and me in the front, she looks to the left in time for us to get hit. BAM. He never even slowed down; side impact air bags kick on as well as head curtain air bags. Her sunglasses break in to pieces and fly into the back seat. Our car, a 2006 Kia Sportage is slide sideways over ten feet according to skid marks. Im stunned and in shock she asks if Im okay and wants to get out. I feel like Ive been kicked to the stomach and can barely move. (Im a former Pro fighter so I know) I on Adrenaline get out and immediately check on her daughter, shes ok, didnt even know what happened. My g friend is not bleeding but is bruised.
The A hole that hit us has been on the phone since the accident had been on his cell phone, I assume with the police, but no. 15 minutes after I decide to make what I think is a second call to the police and EMTs. I was the Reporting party. He knew it was a family of 3 but was calling his company instead. He smelled of booze and was shoving gum in his mouth right after impact. Witnesses came up and told us.
Once police officer arrived, he took my id and the two drivers. Never even mentioned about me open carrying. (which was cool) he never took my statement and never gave the guy any field sobriety test despite me and another bystander stating he smelled of alcohol. The 3rd party witness told the officer he was speeding and the officer shrugged it off. No test, no pictures, no measuring of skid marks. After all is said and done, he cites my girlfriend for failing to stop at a stop sign. Im blown away.
Anyhow. Were all uninjured except for a few bruises.
At least my 2nd amendment rights werent in question.
