The Cohen brothers did a good job. I enjoyed it, except for the part where the Texan doesn't die.
I couldn't figure why the texan kept saying "MAAATT DAAAAAMON"
The original was a classic. John Wayne was a great actor, back in that time, that was considered good acting. Times have changed and so have the standards of the screen. It was also in black and white but your too young to have seen that version. The remake is better than the original. John Wayne was a pretty terrible actor.
Playing the same character in every single film is not good acting. He was good at acting like that one character. I like John Wayne movies as much as the next fella, but let's not dilude ourselves to the point of calling what he did great acting. Have you read the novel True Grit? Bridges nailed the character of Rooster Cogburn. In 1969, audiences got John Wayne playing John Wayne as Rooster Cogburn. It was nothing like the character in the book. The original was a classic. John Wayne was a great actor, back in that time, that was considered good acting. Times have changed and so have the standards of the screen.
It was also in black and white but your too young to have seen that version.
I like both versions but yes, the newer one has the advantage of the 21st century.
