I was caught going 76 in a 60mph zone this morning. I had thought that I was in a 70mph zone and was going with the flow of light traffic. The officer was kind enough to drop the offense down to just 10mph over the speed limit so that points would not go on my license which I really do appreciate. My question is...on the ticket he wrote my address incorrectly even though I still live at the address listed on my license. Is that enough in the courts eyes to get the fine of $161.00 reduced? As a side note, I was extremely polite and professional with the officer even making sure to thank him for reducing the infraction.

I have told many people. Just pay the ticket.

Unless you were without a doubt not in the wrong and there are all kinds of witnesses, just pay the ticket. Your addy on the ticket will likely have little to zero affect in the judges eyes and then your paying court costs on top of it.

Just my $.02 on the matter, I'm not a lawyer or anything, just have been down these roads before myself. lol

I would change my name and move, that way you are not obligated to pay the fine.

Seems to work for others.

I appreciate your input. I was just curious. I was just hoping to keep my squeaky clean driving record squeaky clean, especially since I will be applying for an NFA item soon. Like you said, I will probably just pay the fine and get it over with. Too bad though...That money could have gone toward more ammo!!!

Just wondering ...where would you get that idea?
And, if you signed it ..I believe that you were partly concurring that the info was correct.

Let me get this straight: You were speeding 16 over, he cut you a break down to 10, and you want to get compensated for him making a mistake on your address?

Haha. It would be cheaper and easier to just pay the fine. I guess I was due for a ticket after all. I moved here from GA last year. I have NEVER heard of a medic or firefighter in GA getting a ticket. Not saying it is right, it was just how it was. Not that us firefighters were complaining or anything. Lol.

Never did I say I wasn't going to pay it. Im not stupid enough to let it get to the point that a bench warrant would be issued over a traffic violation. You are however absolutely correct that I did sign it therefore I was in fact concurring that the info was incorrect. I hadn't thought about that. So yea, I'll just pay it and get it over with.
