OKOCA has a board of directors that makes major decisions. This isn't "okiebryan's group". OKOCA recommended an attorney, and so far that is the extent of our involvement in this case. We are waiting to see what, if any charges are filed before making any further decisions. In any case, OKOCA does not as of yet have a legal defense fund.

Disclaimers aside, what I'm about to say is my personal opinion. I sincerely hope that if any of you are ever involved in an incident involving use or carry of a firearm, that other gun owners don't rush to public judgement based on nothing more than what a police agency told the media, then what the media shared with the public about the incident. When there is an arrest, anyone who knows anything about the criminal justice system will tell you not to talk in public about your case, because anything you say can and will be used against you. Regardless of whatever any of us think about the advisability of Mr. Sisson's actions that night, I can tell you that he researched the law, believed that he was in the right and that he was ignoring an unlawful order, and that he was fighting for everyone's rights. There are some factual errors in the News9 story. That's all I feel at liberty to say about the facts of this incident as I know them.

Since there is some legal uncertainty whether Mr. Sisson actually broke the law, I don't believe that throwing another gun owner under the bus is appropriate or constructive, and if you were the one in a similar position, I think you would agree. However, all of you certainly have the right to express any opinion that you want.

Guy's an idiot. Returning would be trespass. Nothing at all cut and dry about a polling place being owned, rented, or leased by the government, or about it being a meeting of government officials.

Just playing devils' advocate here...would it be trespass if the order to leave was not a lawful order? Is the person who told him to leave in lawful control of that property? How do you know?

Let's say that I am minding my own business, walking through a public park and some soccer mom tells me (ignorant of the actual law) that I can't carry a gun there and that I have to leave. Are you of the opinion that I am bound by that order? I am of the opinion that since a park is not a prohibited place, and that I have every right to be there, and especially that said soccer mom isn't in legal control of the property, I could and would ignore that order to leave.

Good point. I never thought of it that way either.

Regardless of the facts of this case, it seems that the way our justice system works is if you don't have legal representation, your toast! Prater, or one of his underlings will walk all over this guy!
