Well, I certainly appreciate your insight Veggie Meat. I think you draw a nice line between equality and anti-equality and I recognize it matters.

I guess then, the question in my mind becomes, how does a local majority protect institutions in which they find value and meaning without negatively impacting the minority?

I have not yet seen a judge in a firearms banning state, not just California, have the moxie to overturn such a ban. Nor do I think I will.

I don't think the govt should legislate morality. No one should be allowed to use "laws" to hammer at another's beliefs.

Moral
The continuing degradation of the moral fiber of this country is accelerating. It's supposed to. At least we outlasted the Israelites. Read Judges, they couldn't go more than 40 years without falling into sin.
I wouldn't sweat it if I were you. Rome will burn. Rome MUST burn.

X2, marriage is a holy and divinely established covenant. Having laws about marriage routinely goes against laws for separation of church and state. there should be no legal inferences when it comes to marriage as it's a religious union. Leave it to government to make it about money and regulation.

Probably my favorite post in the thread. I'm not a religious person but I think we're "goin' to hell in a bucket". :P

You all seem to forget that you're particular god/gods/beliefs are not the beliefs of others, and just as you wouldn't want an alternative lifestyle forced upon you, the religious right in turn should not force their alternative lifestyle on others.

I respect the champions; those entering the OSA arena and vociferously advocating for Gay Rights. But is there not one Gay among you, who will come out and admit it? I have come out and said what I am father to. I had no champion speaking for me. Is there not a Gay man among you? Or are you all champions?

I'm not gay and I'm not black. My life would have been a hell of a lot easier if I had been one or the other or both.
I'm just trying to see things from your point of view.

Exactly!!!

As I have said multiple times government has no business being involved in marriage, that is up to the church. Back in 1922 one state saw a way to raise money by forcing people to buy a marriage license and it has spread to almost every state. That is also why I have no problem with gays having a Civil Union or whatever else they want to call it, just not marriage unless a church agrees to perform a marriage for them without being forced to by the government.

It seems we have gotten away from "We the People" and gone to "Me, Myself, and I"
