30% unemployment for teen agers and career minimum wage jobs for illegals....the teens used to learn a trade after high school....those jobs are filled with illegals....
a story I know to be true - Juan works as bus boy in a middle of the road restaurant - he shares a 1br apartment with 4 other bus boys - after 6 mos at work Juan goes back to Mexico with the savings hes accumulated and is replaced by his cousin at the restaurant and in the apartment, without missing even one day at work. This is the rotation for all 5 bus boys.
those jobs are how young Americans learn to make a living, budget their money - grow up to be productive citizens.
we pay for their medical - education - rent - etc our kids cant afford college and we cant pay for it because we have to pay for the illegals education first
not to mention that wages in the US have fallen so far behind the cost of living so that poverty is the only guarantee for most people - thanks in large part to the illegals.

I totally agree that the borders should be protected and something needs to be done about the tremendous illegal immigration problem but first we must fix the tremendous govt handout problem. With all of the handouts, a job is optional. So, the majority of service industry/entry level employee base chooses not to work or to not work much. So, the employers offer the positions to those who are available to work which, many times, happens to be an illegal immigrant. The business owners would LOVE to fill these positions w legals but, unfortunately, there isn't much to choose from. In my business it is EXTREMELY difficult to get legal people to show up to fill out an app much less work while at the same time many illegals bang down my door wanting to work. I can see how it would be easy to give in to that temptation. Seriously answer this question, if right this instant we removed all illegal immigrants, who would cook & wash dishes @ restaurants? Who would mow the lawns? Who would frame & roof the houses? Who would clean the houses and hotels? Who would dry clean the clothes? Who would do your wives nails? Who would sweat in the factories? Who would load/unload trucks? And so on... You're fooling yourself if you think that all of the sudden the deadbeats would get off of their butts and fill these positions today. You must be crazy! Remember, a job is optional. If they wanted those jobs, they would have them. Many businesses would fail while others would survive but not thrive and prosper. Those people won't work until the rule of "if you don't work, you don't eat" is implemented.

I think the U.S. needs to institute a jobs program.
One that would have any illegal aliens caught to spend at least 6 months actually doing the construction of the wall on the border. Then we could send them back to Mexico (or wherever) with a little bit of job training and experience.
Then, if we could go along with Trump's idea to "blackmail" the Mexican government to pay those illegals while they were working on our wall, they could honestly go back to Mexico and say that they were already "government" employees and should continue getting to work for the Mexican government. An American Great Wall sounds cool to me. Then those workers could be getting bricklaying training.

blame the people filling the jobs and receiving the handouts rather than the government making legal employment more than a simple contract between a worker and employer, taking the first fruits of that "good" labor, and giving handouts funded by theft. good plan.

You do that and tomorrow, everyone in a "min wage job" or trade will be making $4.00 per hour with no benefits and they'll all be speaking Spanish as a 1st, probably only language. All those currently on benefits will still be unemployed and fighting over corners to panhandle on.

adults should be able to make their own decisions. if you dont want to work for an agreed upon wage, don't agree to it... if they want better pay, they should earn it. work harder, longer hours, whatever. companies will still need to compete for valuable employees, same as they do now.

The problem with saying if you don't want to work for an agreed upon wage is that the illegals are willing to work for penny's if necessary. Large groups of them will occupy a single dwelling, and all contribute to rent and utilities. I heard on the radio today, but can't confirm that the average person in Mexico earns $7 a day. If they come here and make $14 for a days work, they have effectively doubled their income. An American family can't make it on $14 a day.
