1st. I'd have joined the Army or Air National Guard right out of H.S. I believe it would have matured me a little faster, provided a skill, and would have offered a full time/retirement job if I would have wanted it. Have a lot of buddies who are high ranking and one of them is a Lt.Col.

2nd. I have three bachelor degrees and a Masters. One of the three is in teaching/education and I have several license to teach in a few specific states...I also went an obtained my National Certification to teach in all states( I think...I haven't looked at it in a while...and haven't used it).

Back to #2.....I think I would have liked to have had a more "specific or job specific/training degree" like nursing or funeral science...or both...If I was smart enough I'd have a Masters or a PhD in Chemistry instead of a Masters in Environmental Biology. Maybe even obtained an electrician degree or certification.

I love education and learning I have numerous certificates in various fields that I don't use nor work in that field....BUT...if the opportunity surfaces...especially for retirement...something to do.
Example: I have a Class A CDL...double/triples, tankers, hazmat endorsement but don't use it. I have a 40hr Hazwoper Cert, Smoke School(reading percentages of smoke from smoke stacks)Cert....and a ton of others.... I have made myself marketable in NUMEROUS fields.........and I still would like a few more degrees but at 52.....why?

3rd. I absolutely love casinos....Vegas casinos. I believe if I knew then what I know now I might have moved to Vegas and worked in a few casinos....learning what degree(s) does a person need to advance in a Vegas casino. Accounting? Actuary? Masters in Business???

I'm glad I waited until I was 34, to get married. The main reason I waited so long was my many degrees( lot of time spent in college) and living in various parts of the U.S. I have worked as a cowboy in my early years on the King and Waggoner Ranches in Texas, I have lived with my grandparents in Los Angeles, California and been a Hollywood partier at night and a beach bum /wanna be surfer during the day.
I have lived in the 4-Corners area of the U.S. (NW New Mexico/SW Colorado) and taught school on the Navajo Reservation.......and a ton of other jobs before I settled down!!!! When I settled down it be came US .........not just ME.

When you marry...marry your best friend. I did and I have NO regrets.

Bottom line:

I don't have many regrets.....I always try to look for opportunities forward...not look on the backside of my life with "I should have".

Success is how you define it, not how others state it.

Look at life as a learning opportunity to advance yourself.....even years later you may use a degree or skill in even another state or country that if you didn't have it...you wouldn't be able to go or do.

DO NOT live above your means!!! Invest in yourself, wife, and family...always. If and when you can do some monetary investing.

If it's a get rich quick scheme....it's a scheme. The only folks I know who are wealthy worked and saved, saved and worked...and avoided "free" and "get rich quick". The ones who are very wealthy and have been able to KEEP it....have used their brain, not passion, to keep their wealth and even grow it.

It's not how much you make, but how much you can save.

There's a ton of other ideas and suggestions on my life but as I have stated... I'm driving life's highway forward and not in reverse. But I do try to learn from my mistakes and other's to avoid more pit falls in life.

The only true regret I have, at 47, is selling my 1968 383x4 Dodge Charger when I was in my late twenties and going through a divorce. Spent years rebuilding that beauty and the cost to replace it now is ridiculous.

Everything else I'm pretty cool with.

I would have went to Woodstock no matter how pissed my parents would have been. I would have seen Pink Floyd in concert no matter how far away they were. I think I would have waited a few more years before getting married and bought every transferable machinegun I could have afforded. I would have tried to buy my cousin's 1969 1/2 440 sixpack Roadrunner.

I wish I had divorced my first wife early instead of trying to be a hero. Staying with her ruined my life. i could elaborate but won't.

I've looked in the mirror every morning for 31 years and wanted to kick my own ass for not joining the Navy or the USCG the day after I graduated from college.

I would have dated fewer crazy women, and I would have had children, before I was out of my 30's. As it stands, I never had any, but I raised a great step-son.
