The problem with medical marijuana is there is no way to avoid abuse. Call it a freedom all yoy want. I don't care if our founding father cultivated it, spoke of it, wrote of it. Call it a freedom all you want, nce it has gained popularity, it'll spread across the fabric of America and lead us all into a pit of agony. Sure, it will start out harmless enough, and help where it can, but history has shown we humans don't settle for self-imposed self control and acceptable moral values for long. We just change our morals to reflect whatever public opinion is. It's a personal freedom for a purpose first, then it spreads. Sure, you'll need a doctors approval and a license, for now... but it eventually hops from something you do privately to something common in public. Before you know it, you can't even take in a movie, go to the mall, or enjoy a good sermon at church without someone ruining your experience. Then the youth will start to see it as the norm, and all of a sudden it's in our schools. You really want that? You can't fight that sort of unstoppable train, you have to derail it right out of the station. You can't wait to pick your fight when it grows too large, you have get ahead of those who will inevitably abuse even the best intentions and ban all guns.

Too many of you are assuming the use of pot will skyrocket once legal. Meaning you have no idea just how many normal folks use it already. Some new users will be there of course but you'll never know who they are unless they tell you. But it wont be reefer madness lol. Medical THC will be administered in edible forms so its as easy as taking a pill like CBD is now. Will it be available to smoke as well? Yes but I can see a Dr. wanting to prescribe an edible over a smoke.
When Open carry was the issue everyone feared there would be guns hanging out everywhere! That was a non issue and this will be also. You wont see any noticeable change.
And as far as tax revenue, medical pot was really never about that except to the lawmakers. CO makes considerably more money growing/selling hemp than selling pot and hemp production became legal here in OK this year. That's where the money will be as there is a world wide market for it. Over 2500 farmers have applied to grow it and are looking into equipment adjustments to plant/harvest it. I expect you will see lots of hemp fields this time next year

Such is what happened to the Roman Empire. Debauchery became commonplace to the point that they had no morals to speak of left. I'm sure that the Romans were also "all about freedom" as well.

Freedom can be dangerous if not handled properly. I think I can make a better judgement of "properly" than my elected officials.

I'm sorry, did you say marijuana, or alcohol? Want to go back to Prohibition?

Apparently the distribution of prescription opiates and widespread recreational alcohol is moral. Whereas if you touch the reefer..... you're going to hell. Oh and fun fact.... loose morals such as these caused the downfall of the Roman Empire in lieu of invasion. It's a helluva drug I tells ya.
