Im looking at buying a new travel trailer.
Was wondering if any of you had any experience with dealers in the OKC area.
I have heard horror stories about buying from Camping World so any information would be greatly appreciated.

We did great with Camping World in OKC.
“Charlie” spent most of the day with us looking at different floor plans. We had done our homework online learning what to look for and what to avoid, and it was close to the end of the day. Finally found one we liked and lowballed an offer that was turned down. We were tired and headed to the parking lot. Charlie came out as we were getting into the truck and said my offer was accepted and wanted to talk financing. We went back and got fed some BS by the sales manager and the numbers didn’t match up. We already had a line of credit from our Credit Union so just wrote them a deposit check and said I’d be back tomorrow to pick up, pay the balance and wanted a walk through demonstration of all features before leaving.
I’ve heard the same stories about CW horror stories, but our experience worked out.

How long ago did you buy your RV?
Seems like most of the stories I have heard are when they financed with CW and problems with getting warranty work done.
Im not looking to finance, I will pay cash.

Might give Dale Peay a shot at Idle Time Campers in Allen, OK. They sell quite a few units to people that live in the OKC area.

Best of luck in your upcoming adventure!

I would look at different RV's meaning motorized, Class A, B, C as well as trailers. Make sure you have the proper vehicle to tow the weight of the trailer and insulation is absolutely necessary in an RV. I've gone through several RV's-all trailers and one pickup o'head camper. McCains treated me alright but there are other dealers that will also. Have you looked at craigslist? Sometimes let the other guy take the depreciation and make the improvements on an RV and you reap the rewards with a bottom dollar price. A lot of people buy an TV and then use it one season and decide it isn't for them and sell the thing at a bargain.

Not sure about travel trailers, but motor homes depreciate like a stone being tossed from a tall building. We looked at some new ones at the National Trap shoot in Sparta, IL last year. They were in the $500k to $700k range, huge and awesome of course, and more than we need for sure. We toured through half a dozen of them and as we were walking out of the last one, there was a couple in their 60's getting ready to walk in. They said they had the same motor home but it was 4 years old and was looking at selling and buying a smaller one. He said it had depreciated over 30% already, and strongly encouraged us to look at some one to two year old units, they said they wouldn't buy new again.

2017 was the year we bought ours. I'm pretty heavy into the RV scene now and on several of their forums. Warranty work with any of the dealers seems to be an issue, not just CW. Don't expect anything to be done quickly.
What we found in our travels that when you go to a big RV area like South Tx or Florida, there are independant RV mechanics that come to your site and repair it right there. There are teams that go around washing and hand waxing everything from Class A motor coaches down to mini camping trailers. Propane trucks make rounds through the campgrounds to fill your bottles right at your site. No need to go looking for them.

Thanks for your insight.
