@CGS1 ,That shot of the M1 with fireball is Bad ass!! Was stationed in Germany in the 80's and got to see these beauty's in action. I think they were the A1's but been a couple years
In the early seventies when they had an exercise, legal would follow as the tanks rumbled across roads, potato fields, tore down fences, hit barns and sometimes houses etc and would document the damage and see that the German populace were well paid.

I was in the 23rd battalion Combat Engineers, attached to the 3rd Armored Div. We had the Combat Engineer Vehicle - basically an M60 tank chassis with a dozer blade, an A-frame hoist, and a short demolition gun.
We went through a small town whilst on maneuvers, the LT took us down the wrong road, had to turn the entire column around.
I watched that CEV driver hit his track locks, spun that 50 tons around in it's own length.

On a cobblebrick road.

In the main intersection of the town.

Completely uprooted the entire road, absolutely destroyed the intersection. He left ruts 2 feet deep, with the road detritus trailing him for 50 yards.

I've often wondered how much that cost us taxpayers, and if the CEV driver was 'reprimanded'.
