I like pinto beans with chunks of skillet-browned Hot Links in 'em. Even better with cornbread, and fried okra. Braums makes the best Hot Links by the way. And I think Cholula Chipotle Sauce beats the Tabasco stuff too, but it might be necessary to do an exhaustive taste-test to get the definitive answer to that. But no test needed to know that Braums makes the best Hot Links. Kitchen here I come!

If you really think Braums makes the best, I challenge you to go by Rogers Meats in Midwest City. 1925 SE 29th. Their website boasts that hot links are their specialty, and they really are. They have a huge variety, all made fresh. I only get mine from there anymore. If you take me up on my challenge, you won’t be sorry.

Was at a smorgasbord in Hayes, KS one evening. I got me a big mess of beans n cornbread. I stopped the waitress who for all the world looked like Flo the waitress in Alice the TV show. I asked for some raw onions and vinegar for my beans. She looked at me and beamed, "Why you're an old southern boy ain't ya!" "You wait right here hon, I'll be right back."

There is a BBQ place in Sapulpa called Boss Hawgs BBQ.

They serve exactly that (with a little extra spice thrown in). They call them "Cowboy Beans"....mmmmmm good!

With her being Asian my bride of 43 + years didn't grow up eating beans and cornbread and has never really acquired a taste for them so I have to eat the whole pot of beans and pan of cornbread by myself......darn the luck. :)
I'm round enough as it is. If I were to do something like this, I'd hardly be able to make it through the door. :-)

Since I'm the cook in this family, I tend to only make things that both of us will eat. That being said, I may actually just have to go this route soon. You guys have me jonesing for some beans and cornbread. :-)

I pick a day when the wife is going to be out running amok and plan for meals she does not care for. Fried cabbage, hot links, etc are all wife is gone meals.

Have you tried those phoney oven-baked "fries", Rick?
I know a guy who's almost reached your own very advanced age who claims they're not as bad as you might think.

Beans, corn bread and fried tators are a carb overload for this diabetic, has nothing to do with age you old goat. :P
