Recommending and ordering are definitely two different things, pretty sure we can refer to the Constitution. (Can't we???)

ABSOLUTELY INSANE. These city, county and state governments are destroying peoples lives with this ridiculousness

I'm not sure about this, maybe this is what is required in order to slow the spread down? One infected person can easily infect others in he restaurant and then they in turn, as restaurant goers tend to do, go to other restaurants and infect even more and they in turn ... so, maybe drastic measures for drastic times? What if this kind of thing saves a whole lot of lives?

This could be, as I have heard some say, "A Pearl Harbor Event". A few days ago, 1000's crowded into the Chesapeake, with nary a care in the world about the Corona Virus, hoping to watch a ball game.

Can something like that that even be considered now, mere days later? Where is this going to be in another few days? A week? Two weeks...

I know I've certainly never lived in times like this. I also know some people are too stupid to do the right things and some are too irresponsible. Trouble is; drastic actions like these affect us all.

So as I said, I'm not too sure about this. My mind is not made up.

I'll also add that the restaurant and bar owners will most likely comply because if they don't, and times get real bad, the authorities are gonna know who followed instructions to close and who didn't. As in emergency funding and low interest loans...and I bet the insurance carriers will be taking note too.

I can see it now: "Mabel's Bar and Grill sued by widow of man who dies of C-Virus contracted in bar after they refused to close". "I told him not to go there, but he's a stubborn old cuss, I mean...at least...he was, and they were the only dang bar still open around here after the Gubner told them all to close it on up. Joe Bob loved to hang out in them old bars drinkin' cheap beer and oogling them old wrinkled up bar hags and hussies. I gots me this lawyer says I can sue the BeeJeebus outta them now for not closing up like they was supposed to do!"

I get what you're saying, but I think the primary issue here is "force" vs "recommend". Many restaurants couldn't go 2-4 weeks and financially be able to open their doors once the "all clear" has sounded. The government can "recommend" all they want, but when they take away our option of choice, that's when they've crossed the line, regardless of the reasoning behind it.

Yes, one person can spread a pathogen/contagion to a large number of people, but that's the same for corona virus as it is for the flu, strep, the common cold, etc... which also can be deadly, but have you ever seen the government or people act like this with anything else?

Like it or not, this has became a political issue in an election year.
If a Politician doesn't get on board with the insanity, they will likely lose their office if it gets out of hand, but if it is contained early or is just a dud, they will still get pats on the back for being proactive.
