Dennis don't you remember Sugarfoot, Maverick ,Lawman, Bat Masterson, Wyatt Earp, Branded, Jim Bowie, Cheyenne, Wanted Dead or Alive, The Rebel, Riverboat, and The Rifleman ? There were many more that didn't run for long. We only had 3 channels and I was the remote. Thank God channel surfing was a thing yet.

Gunsmoke is on everyday at noon off the air on METV, 23.2 in Tulsa. If I'm not out in the yard doing something I'm watching Gunsmoke, I record it for the times when I can't watch it. One of my favorites and interesting to see the actors get old as the show progressed. Dillion was on through the entire 20 year run, Kitty left just before it ended.

Bonanza was another good one for several years. Wasn't real crazy about the last ones though.

I've seen several western shows/movies where they'd tie down the gun just before meeting for a showdown in the street. Sort of a suspense builder, because you knew they were serious then.

We didn't have a TV until I was a senior in High School. Couldn't afford one. If I watched TV back in those days it was at the neighbors or a relative. Saw some of those you listed but never got to watch the series. Gunsmoke and Pallidin were the only two I can remember.

Most of the old westerns would have the hero tie it down just before they walked out to fight as a dramatic effect. Like all the old cop shows where they would swing out the cylinder on their DA revolver, make sure they remembered to load it, then flick it closed.

Kind of like the feller racking the slide on a semi-auto just before going through the door?

Watched every episode with my Daddy when I was a youg'un.
Same here. IIRC it came on every night after the 10 o'clock news.

One show I haven't seen mentioned yet that was a favorite from my younger days is Rawhide with Clint Eastwood.

My cousins and I had horses and when we would play Rawhide we would always argue about which one of us was going to be Rowdy Yates.

The Rifleman was another favorite of mine.
