LOL at "like minded". People better be like minded or the hive mind of the board shall descend their fury upon the free thinker.
Resistance is futile...

By like minded I meant those of us who enjoy shooting and related posts instead of just posting stupid stuff like your comment. If you’re a free thinker you’re charging too much.

Other than what was mentioned above, min post count would prevent some one in Morocco from joining at 1am and sending out mass PMs to folks in the classifieds and telling them to email their great uncle at the given email address and he'll buy what the OSA member is selling. Nobody falls for it of course but it's a pain to clean up.
You mods have large shoulders.

Thanks for proving my point... really goes to show the community so many folks in the thread talk about. I bet noobs totally want to stick around a forum with digs like that flying around.

I just changed my mind after reading the newest....

I knew you’d come around. [emoji12] you didn’t jump on those deals? He’s been a member since 11/20 with 10 posts. All of them items for sale at such great prices.

We have kicked this topic around, pro and con, but there is one question that hasn’t been addressed.

Exactly what problem is caused by new member posts in the classifieds, and what will be accomplished with minimum posts requirements?

I've always considered these forums, places to help and get info. Classifies were just a benefit of this.

Most forums that have minimum post counts have members scattered out all over the country. Usually minimum counts are a good way to keep people from getting scamed since most items have to be shipped. That's not the norm here though.

I showed up here when we had the minimum thread count, back then, and even now, I feel like having a minimum post count goes to prove that you’re here for more than selling/buying. Granted, anyone can make 25 mediocre posts allowing them to access the classifieds, but it was a way to give individuals a chance to introduce themselves and see the value in contributing before getting the homie hookup on the classifieds.

the “we’re all a family” thing is crap. We’re all a bunch of opinionated buttholes. We have our differences. We want to help each other out when it comes to our shared hobbies though. We get a little grumpy if someone wants to taste the fruits of membership without contributing to the collective brain. With most established members, I don’t feel the need to count money in front of the other party. The other day when buying a shotgun barrel from @CHenry i was invited inside because it was cold outside. That spoke volumes to me and meant a lot, honestly. Myself, if it wasn’t someone established, I wouldn’t have considered it. Showing yourself to be a part of the community brain shows yourself to be a little more trustworthy than the average schmuck off armslist.
