I just went outside to take the trash out. On my way back in, I moved the doormat over and there was a little brown ball of fur under it. I took a good look to find it was a bat. He was alive but, really out of it. I put him in a box and brought him in to warm up. Now I don't know what to do with him. I guess I'll let him out on a warmer day or call the animal shelter.

I have a bat house on one of my trees. Poor thing probably came out when the weather was warmer and then the bottom fell out. I’m glad you are taking care of it though. Just don’t let it bite you as they can carry rabies.

Don't eat it for dang sure!

Not only don't eat it, but be fastidious with your hand-washing and wear something like a smock over your clothes, and gloves when you handle him -- and then take them off and toss them (ideally) or toss them in the washer.

Yeah ... I know ... But rabies SUCKS ... And just because he doesn't look or act sick doesn't mean he/she is disease free.
