I’m not a huge fan of most of the staff, but I can understand how touchy they are sometimes. There’s some real lunatics and complete first timers in there. A close friends dad works there as a range coach and has some horror stories. I like him, but not a big fan of anyone else there.
i totally understand this. they can't take any chances.

and that's all the more reason to avoid them imo. i can't either lol

Some rifles you can feel it in your shoulder, this one you feel it in your molars.
I "hear" ya!
I RO'd an indoor match in Edmond once where a guy had a brake and short barrel. Ear plugs under muffs for myself and I had to stop him after the first few shots. Insane how loud that rifle was and the concussion from the muzzle blast is exactly as you stated.

Be my guest at the OKC Gun Club next trip. Might be a shorter drive, can shoot faster and "most" of the folks so far have no pink hair! I cant get out there much during the week as I work too much, but unless there is a yuge shoot going on, I can walk on to any range and almost have it to myself.

Honestly, It was the best decision I've made with regards to shooting. I've had horrible experiences at Big Boys, H&H and Wilshire only to go back against my better judgement, and had a great experience. I've had one of the those tacticool guys at Wilshire screwing off on his cell phone while trying to ring me up to shoot and call him out on it only to have him tell me I was shooting too fast before I ever fired a shot. Sounds like you dealt with his sister!

Public ranges are becoming a game of Russian Roulette. My days at Banner/Sears/Canadian are done. The 2nd time I was hanging a target on the 100 yard and had someone start shooting, made me question why this was happening a 2nd time. Unless the old Trooper is running the line, good luck with a cold range.

Couple million new gun owners brings all walks of life and a lack of training.

True but my employees were required to provide good service and if we had a line I worked it myself. You won’t find that at any post office these days. Service is rapidly becoming a rarity.
I know I've said this before, but I when I moved to the Edmond area about 11 years ago, I had this older postlady that was a gem. I used to meet her with Gatorade and Bottled water when it was really hot out. I was pulling in the driveway about the time she was running her route.

I would order a ton of reel parts from Japan to work on obsolete bait casters and all had to be signed for. If she missed me, she always seemed to make a 2nd trip around. You could tell she loved her job. She left, promoted or something about 3 years ago and the mail hasn't been the same since.

Went to Big Boys this morning with a friend to shoot at 10 am. There was a wide strip of frozen over snow about 10 feet wide covering the entire front of the store. I had a knee replacement 3 weeks ago and it was extremely slick. When we went inside I mentioned it and some pink haired young fat girl said “nothing we can do about it, we don’t have any way to fix it”. We checked in and went to shoot.
As we were shooting, the same girl came out and reminded us that we couldn’t fire more than one round per second. Ok fine, I started counting one thousand one, one thousand two, etc as I was firing shots into a fist sized hole at 7 yards. After a while she came back out, obviously upset and told me I was still shooting too fast. I asked her if she had a timer and perhaps her time could be better spent clearing the driveway so customers didn’t slip and fall. She then told me to “pack my ****” and get out. I packed up and asked to see a manager. Some big old boy with a nose ring and I sat on the couch and had a nice polite discussion. I asked him if I should return to his range in the future. He told me things might be different next time, depending on who was range safety officer.I also asked him about the ice and he couldn’t or wouldn’t offer an explanation why it hadn’t been removed. Maybe I should have handled things differently but the list of places I spend my money grows smaller every day. Big Boys will never see me there again. Too bad really since it’s a nice range.
Next stop... I'd talk to or write a letter to the owner. If they don't know what's going on, they should. If they don't care, then it's definitely not a place you should return to.

At Canadian valley, you never go by yourself. Always leave armed and trusted person/people behind at the line to protect your 6.

Yep, as stated previously unless the very crotchety old man is working the line, I’ve had very similar instances to @rockchalk06. Hadn’t been back since the second time it happened.

The LAST time I was at big boys I wanted to look at a rifle hanging on the wall behind the counter. I couldn’t get the attention of the two guys working there. They were too committed to a show on the TV and talking about their “sniper” experiences with each either.
