I was sitting at a red light a few months back at Martin Luther King and I-44 in OKC. Right next to me, on the left side no less, was an OHP on one of those sharp looking BMW's with an AR in a "scabbard." Sadly, I couldn't get my cell phone out fast enough to get a picture before the light changed. Of all times for an Oklahoma traffic light to change early.

While I've sworn off motorcycles, that combination of BMW and AR was awfully tempting. Also, it seems like there was a thread here several months ago where someone reported seeing two or three at an eatery. I also seem to remember that there was some pictures, although not very good ones.

EDIT: Found the thread I remembered.

ARs are the modern equivalent of the lever action rifle of old...why anyone is surprised to see anyone, especially a lawman, carrying or using one is just baffling to me.

This^^^

If it's just a sporting rifle or tool to us, the same is 100% true for the police as well. DUH!

The police have gone batshit crazy with the AR stuff. A cop on a motorcycle doesn't need an AR. If he needs all that crap he might as well be drivin' a squad car.

I disagree completely. A motor officer can be the first on scene to domestic calls and potentially dangerous situations. Their primary purpose is traffic enforcement. However, because of this purpose they are not tied down to calls or taking reports. Therefore, they are extremely more mobile and flexible which enables them to respond to a calls when others are occupied. Many times all officers on a shift can be on call, traffic accident, writing reports, etc. A motor officer is basically a free roving patrol that in times of heavy police activity can assist when needed. They are still police and have a duty to protect the community and should therefore be equipped as such.

I think Jukonjack was being facetious.

Duty to protect the community......

I have had zero problems with any JBTs, if I would slow down I'd have no contact, but I hope we are't waiting for them to come save the day.

I am all for law enforcement carrying whatever they need to be more safe and get home safely. I have no issue with any LEO and have nothing but respect for what they do. Keep up the good work folks!
