60K for a wedding? I gave my son and DIL 3 grand and reservations in Key West for a week if they drove there. Figured I saved money vs a fancy wedding.

This. He's gonna hear ALL about it for the next 12 years (I dunno why I think the kid is 6. Read it somewhere, maybe. Maybe I made it up -- hell I don't know but you get my drift).
In the same vein when Grumpy's oldest kid turned 18 we did the math and his child support would have been reduced by a paltry $50/month so we just left it alone. I told Grumpy to watch, when his youngest turned 18 and the well ran dry she would come uncorked. He was like nah, she wouldn't do that.
Sure enough the month after his youngest turned 18 his phone was ringing. Kid #2 was wanting to know where "his" money was. And "don't you want to take care of me like you are supposed to?" Grumpy asked him what he thought he'd been doing for the last however many years and now he was a man so he could take care of himself. He probably said all this a lot nicer than I would have.
When that didn't work his ex- called and threatened to take him back to court. Lmao! Whenever she calls, after he gets done with whatever hot mess is going on and gets off the phone I just look at him and say "Tell me thank you". Haha!
Alimony may well be the money that the happy pay to the devil, but a hit man would have been cheaper.

I saw stuff like this all the dang time.
I made more money in that gig than anything I've ever done,,,
But I had to walk away from it because it was also the most stressful gig I've ever had.

They seriously thought child support continued into adulthood?
Child support ends at 18 only if the “child” has graduated HS.
