TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — A Kansas church, labeled by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a hate group, now wants its own messages on Tulsa streets because of the Black Lives Matter mural on Greenwood.

Westboro Baptist Church says it's emailed Mayor G.T. Bynum asking for the street space near all hospitals that treat COVID-19 patients.

"God has sent the coronavirus in fury," the church said in the email.

In fact, that's one of several messages it wants to be written on the streets along with "Fear God" and "Repent or Perish," but local BLM supporters say the "Black Lives Matter" message belongs in the historic Greenwood District where the Race Massacre of 1921 happened.

Other murals, they say, may not belong on city streets at all.

"What will it benefit?" Rev. Mareo Johnson with the Tulsa chapter of the Black Lives Matter movement said. "We can't put up things that influence, promote hate and violence."

Johnson says community leaders are trying to find a legal way to keep the BLM mural on Greenwood.

I read elsewhere that some enterprising soul demanded permission to paint a politically conservative message on a street in response to a BLM slogan (also painted on a street). Something about the 1st Amendment and all sides have a right to be heard, etc.

The city fathers (someplace in The People's Republic of Kalifornia?) decided to remove the BLM paint rather than open that door.

Interesting.

I'm so tired of BLM at this point.
BLM has nothing to do with black people in America. It has only to do with anarchists and trouble makers that use that slogan because they know that people are reluctant to say it's BS because they are afraid to be called racist. It's a complete scam and until that organization is identified as a terrorist group, along with Antifa, they are going to be able to ride that horse for a long time.

But I think a lot of people are just like you and I and no longer have any sympathies for their cause, because we have figured out that their cause has nothing at all to do with black lives. It is strictly an anti-police, anti-USA organization that is getting off on all of this turmoil.

If you're going to not prosecute for graffiti for one group, then you really can't prosecute others. Westboro ought to just paint away, get arrested, then sue the city for discrimination.

Playing the victim works for other pieces of garbage, they ought to get on that wagon as well.

As much as I absolutely despise these earthsack meatheads that is exactly what they need to do.

Why is this the only church in the country that seems to have a direct line to Heaven? There are others no doubt but a hate-filled church that spews hateful rhetoric doesn't necessarily have God's ear.
