I read it is best to cut them at the base instead of pluck them up as to not mess up the root system.
What is your way of getting them.

don't think they come up from roots.I believe they come up from spores

It's called the foot I believe. Don't know how much difference it makes, but we always leave It.
We put the ones we pick in the mesh bags that can be bought at wallyworld in the laundry section. Shake them in the area to spread the spores.

I was out around Konawa today fishing at one of my club hunting leases and looked around and did not see any. I have never harvested them before so I am not positive what I should be looking for. But I did catch a lot of fish!!!

Yes we do, I'm ready for green up! Power line spark + 40mph winds=gone! Didin't see any morels either, lol.
