$400 for a very used XD-9 Tactical a fair price?

I think that for a 5" gun, its a very good price. It does depend on the definition of "well used"
thats a big difference between different folks.

Bluing from holster wear....a little dirty. A cleaning would probably help a lot but there are a few dings on the polymer frame. It just looks like a pitsol that's been carried in the field for a while. Mechanically it seems to be fine. I'll let him think about my offer.

I'd probably go $375 unless it looked real rough, assuming you get all the gear. I've paid $425 for nib, a refinish would cost more than a new one.

XDs are great guns, but don't let the XD "gear" sway you. I've got 3 XDs, all of which came with the "gear"...it's junk to make us say "cool, it comes with stuff". I doubt you will use any of it for very long before looking for something better.
