What makes you think it is not registered am I missing something?
His statement. "Old guy, 82nd Airborne patches". He's thinking it may be a bring back from WW2 that came home in a duffle bag without papers.
And he should know that a Thompson needs 11.43×23mm ammo (also known as .45 ACP).
It would seem likely that were he REALLY in possession of a REGISTERED weapon worth $15,000--$20,000 in today's market, he would at least know what caliber it is chambered for (seeing as how he would have had to register it). I think he is either delusional, or he came up with one from a long time back.
