I am in need of a Remington 700 firing pin removal tool. I only need to borrow it long enough to pull two firing pins.

or, if someone knows how to compress the mainspring long enough to tap the shroud pin out I am all ears.

Yup. I use a piece of paracord and a dime. As long as the pin and spring aren't rusty, there's no need to take it down any further.

Are you sure you wanna remove the shroud? they can be an SOB to get back together, even with the right tool.

with the right tool its a snap. if you were in Tulsa I'd let you use mine. its easy to make one from a couple pieces of scrap metal. if you got access to a couple drill bits and a tap.

Somewhere on youtube there's a video of a guy (former marine scout-sniper if I recall correctly) disassembling a 700 bolt using the last loop of his shoestrings. It's an interesting watch.
