Yeah buddy, got one, sharpened the bit, like it. Took abrasives to the last few inches of the handle/haft. Too smooth/slippery to suit me. Really like the hinged kydex mask/sheath that came with it. Have tried chopping wood, splitting firewood with it. I found it to be too light for best results. A 1 1/2-2# axe does way better on hard wood. Right tool for the job.

It's not intended to replace a real hand Axe, but for a small tool at around $35 t0 $40 it does a pretty good job in a pinch.

And if one happens to come into harms way, it surly will make a difference in the outcome.

It’s’ light weight would be much appreciated when carrying it. Big advantage compared to being empty handed, if/when the time comes to sort an issue out. On something softer than hardwood.

What i found in testing it on old dry hard logs, is the blade steel really holds up i chopped and chopped trying to see if it would roll the edge or dull it, it never rolled the edge or did it need resharping it could still slice paper and card board.

I even bought another one just to test it, and see if anything changed in it, results were the same stayed sharp no edge roll.

Who ever did their heat treating sure got it right.

Here is one of mine. It is a H&B Forged hand made Spike. I met a guy years ago that is a Pro at Parachute Cord Stuff, had him wrap it and he installs the shock proof somehow on the handle part and puts a wrist lanyard on them. I bought this one off here in the Classifieds years ago.
