If your walls aren't insulated really good does it even matter? Put your hand on sheetrock of your west walls if they are hot, you need more than window tint. Motorized awnings might be good if you got the BUCKS!

Motorized awnings in Ok wind don’t work too well unless you get the expensive ones that automatically retract when the wind picks up.

We had curtains and heavy blinds and then I put white siding on the house and had 3/4" foam behind that added lots of insulation in the attic and added more wind turbines.

None of that made as much difference as replacing the old aluminum 1974 windows with
Vinyl low E windows.
I would try that reflective static cling film.

Lets say it does not stay up.
That is easy to remedy.
Magnets in the corners on both sides of the glass will hold it up.

Magnet on the outside will pull the magnet on the inside.

Neodymium rare earth magnets will be what you want.

Curtains and blinds were inside the house and would heat up and it was like a small heater by the windows.
Can't let the heat in.
