Well, this is a pic of a coon shot with a .17HMR at 30 yds from last week. He was chasing my dogs around and was very aggressive.

It stopped him, but took a second to put him to sleep.
I was using the .17 grain Hornadys that are very light skinned. I'm thinking the better .17 would be the newest rounds out that are designed to hold together a little better.

BTW here are my beaver. Trapped, not shot.

I hate this pic. It was 10 below 0. I had so many clothes on, it looks weird.

That is just what is leaning on my tailgate. Kills them just fine. I have shot quite a few with a .22lr too though. I am thinking the .17 HMR might be just the ticket.

the .17hmr just pisses them off I tried just about every round I could get my hands on and anything past 50 yards is just a waste of ammo, I use a .308 because other than .22 it is the only rifle ammo I stockpile.

don't waste that beaver carcass ... lots of folks feed their dogs raw meat diet would love to get a few carcass in the freezer.

We use the meat in our live traps in the winter. I have an invite to trap some beaver out of a guys pond In a week or so. My trapping partner is off to florida to get married this week.
