Back when I was trapping a few beavers, I contacted a local taxidermist and asked him about this. From what I remember, I was pretty much going to have to skin and flesh the hide myself before it could ever even be sent off to tanned. Not having the tools to flesh the hide, and it being a big pain in the butt, this is what I was trying to avoid. That along with the cost, it just didn't dollar out for me to have one tanned. Beaver hides are beautiful tanned. I'd love to have some beaver pillows to lay on or a blanket of hides, but that would get costly.
