If that's really why she was fired, that's just idiotic. But maybe she wasn't a great employee, and that was just the last straw.

In this political climate, though, it's probably just an idiotic decision by manglement.

Probably is a management decision, and if so, it is a perfectly understandable choice. A wrongful termination settlement is probably less expensive than lost advertising revenue. A public business like broadcasting, is really caught in a tough position these days. Virtually anything that is said can be twisted in a way that offends a large part of their audience.
