I made that mistake about 25 years ago with my old Mohawk Brown Nylon 66. I took it apart and all kinds of doo-dads fell out all over the place.

There's a YouTube video on how to correctly take the gun apart. There is certain sequence that must be followed.

Remington nylon 66s.
Brown or Black stocks are equally common.
The rare is the Green ones made back in the 60's.
The Green guns were going for like $500 way back in the early 80's.
No telling what they are worth today.
Browns had blued metal.
Blacks had chrome plated metal.
Greens were parkerized.
