What are the details and value of this fine weapon if it is roughly 40 years old with no rust and no wear marks and no modifications done to it? That would put the year made at around 1969- so let's say 1967-1972. Let me know I have an intrest in this piece.

PS a "true" 1911 has external id's right? Grip safety, half cocked, and manual slide safety? What else, single stack, single action gun?

I think the serial number is important to identifying the value. The "C" in the serial number specifically. If it is before the number in the C221,000-C240,227 range it was made between 1946-1950. If it is after the number and between the 240,228C-336,169C range it was made between 1950-1970. the earlier is $1850 at 98% and later is $1700 at 98%. This is all straight out of the 2009 blue book for 1911A1 Colt Commercial.

Hope it helps, I would love to see a pic

Dan
