No.... And i have tried another HD with same results..

Sounds like the MOBO is dying then.

Just a thought: Could there be a cable issues? When you tried a different HD, did you use a known good cable?

Use the OEM recovery disk. The owner DID make one, right? Loading up a laptop from a Microsoft disk can be an exercise in futility.

If it's a Dell, they will probably send you one for free. They sent us one at work, no charge.

Does it have a setting in the bios for install?
I had an asus that I would have to change this setting for it to load and turn it off after the load was complete.
