It's crazy. At least merchants are free to tell customers why the won't accept Amex now. Discover is almost as bad.
Discover was always right up there too if I remember correctly. I know of a few high end restaurants that charge their servers the percentage they get off their tips it's gotten so bad. You make $100 in tips on CCs.... you pay the $3-5. Natually, servers hated to get AMEXs on large tabs, but they have the market darn near cornered on large business accounts.
