I'll try to keep this short, I don't want to rant, but in June of 2012 I went into see a dentist to get a crown. He did temporary with no problems or complications, but did say that he wanted to grind down a cusp on the molar behind the one getting the crown. I told him we could revisit the idea when we were doing the permanent.

As expected, he brought it up when putting in the permanent, saying that it would greatly improve my bite any prevent future complication. I fell for the ploy and allowed him to "adjust my bite."

MAN!!! what a mistake! Daily jaw pain and headaches

From that first visit in june of 2012 to may last in May of 2013 I went 43 times, He redid the crown completely (not willing to admit that it was his "solution to future problems," that screwed up my bite). At one point he even told me it was all in my head and then prescribed me a bunch of muscle relaxers.

So it's still messed up, who do I need to go to?

Damn, It did turn into a rant....

Well I am hoping that the follow up visits were covered first off cause if you were charged my thought is get a lawyer.

If your having problems still go to a specialist, not all dentists are created equal and if you have had pain for that long it's time to step up to the big leagues so to speak.

A note to anyone else, getting things done for cosmetic reasons with teeth is asking for trouble IMHO. My canine's were extremely pointy, bottoms still are and the tops were ground down. The ones that were ground ended up with a crack a couple months down the road and each has had a cavity form on the crack that had to be filled. I have heard of other things like this happening as well, I would rather deal with an imperfection than pain and other problems.

No, he didn't charge me for his attempts at fixing the problem, and like I said he tried to fix it by ordering a whole different crown. I don't really have any negative feelings toward him. He tried to make it right for almost a year, and just got to the point where he said he couldn't fix it without allowing him to do significant work to the other side.

I'm not looking for him to refund, a suit, or anything other than relief. I am really considering sending him a copy of the bill.

As for the specialist, any ideas?

I am a hygienist, change dentists. You need a good restorative dentist. Slight adjustments in a persons bite are relatively routine. They should never adjust thru the enamel to the dentin due to the higher risk of decay. A prosthodontist would be a good choice but you will pay higher fees for a specialist. A good restorative dentist can handle your case, if not they will refer you. Unfortunately i don't know anyone in the Ok City area. Know lots of good ones in Tulsa and the guy I work for in Henryetta is very good as well.
Good luck.
