anyone want to compare the kel-tec to the LCP?

B

I have handled both but not shot them side by side. Overall they are near identical, quality and fit seemed similar on both. The Ruger appeared finished a bit better, as in it wouldn't need the fluff and buff that the Kel-Tec often needs. After the first 50 rounds through my Ruger, I can attest that it (mine anyway) didn't.

Key comparison points would be:
  • Ruger has a slide lock/release while the Kel-Tec does not; understand the Ruger does not lock back on the last round.
  • Kel-Tec offers a variety of frame and slide colors, if you're into that, while the Ruger is a Model T ("Any color that he wants as long as it is black").
  • I perceived the Ruger has (marginally) larger sights, in a good way.
  • The Ruger has a beefier extractor, although I have heard the improved Kel-Tec works sufficiently.
  • Both companies excel at service, from all accounts I have read, so call this one a draw.

Here's plenty of reading material on the subject:

No impressed with that penetration at all and that's why I won't carry a .380. .38 rounds perform better.
