Because no OSA thread is complete without at least ONE troll comment, I decided to add this, which is ok because I actually contributed to the thread as well.
I have heard a rapid home charger is $6500-10,000 depending on electrical connection. The people I know who have a tesla use a low amp 220 v plug and cord, 24 hour charge. Nothing fancy, pretty simple install.
That much for a home charger? Wow! They should include one with the car.
We saw a few folks come through with their phone app in hand asking us to allow them to charge for a specified time (I remember once it was like 20 minutes), which would be just long enough for them to make it to the next charging station. I always wondered just how accurate those apps would be, especially so with regards to the vehicles going up mountain grades.
When I was in college, I remember reading about a study done by government concerning usage of the then newThe EV will become more and more visible and viable just as the internal combustion vehicles slowly replaced the horse & buggy. I’m sure the early converts to cars had the same questions we have today...where do we get fuel?, can we venture far from home?, and so on.
