I still have yet to get my 870 off to get refinished. Yeah its been several months that it has just sat in the safe. No love for the 870.

Here is my delima. I'm considering sending my paperwork off to SBS this sucker and would need to get the receiver engraved. Would it be better to have the receiver engraved first then refinish the shotgun. Or get it refinished then engraved.

For those that are asking I'm on the hunt for a 14" beadsighted barrel.

What kind of finish are you going to have done?

The 870 is a steel receiver, right? I would get the engraving done first, then the finishing (so you don't get rust in the letters).

If it was an aluminum receiver, you could engrave after, and then silver letters would shine through. That might look neat, but wouldn't exactly be tactical.

Steel Receiver. I want the factory black parkerized finish. It was apparent that the factory finish sucked. Evidence by the rusting finish on the barrel and receiver.
