I finished out my first year (half-year is more accurate) as a runner with an easy 4 mile run.
I lost 47 pounds in 2015--just over 20% over my body weight. I did it primarily by avoiding carbs, but I also started strength training about half way through the year. It sure feels great
Started 2016 off right with a wicked Legs set this morning...
Got in three runs last week - one at the park (that sucks) - two on muddy, wet, cold trails. That sucks, too - the whole time I was slipping and sliding I was praying "Lord, let the run n gun be DRY...."
Got in some good sets on the bench this morning and got a crash course in deadlifting. Now off to the track....

I missed the first group (OKC Landrunners) long run of the Memorial marathon training season on Saturday morning, but made it up Sunday afternoon.
I'm thinking about putting in a short run (2-3 miles) during lunch at work a few days a week to help build up mileage.

Take your time on the deadlifts. Start slow and don't go too heavy. I've seen a lot of people hurt themselves over the years.
