PSA for all of my friends who shoot. Please wear eye protection while your are out practicing/competing. I had a pistol of mine blow up in my hand today. I was not wearing eye pro, and thank God, I avoided any injuries to my eyes/face. I don't know how, but I'll just say the old man upstairs was looking out for me.
I do not yet know the cause of the malfunction as we could not find the brass from the spent shell. I do know that the gun fired out of battery while I was practicing speed drills. All signs say that it was not a squib load as there is no damage to barrel/slide. No bulging in the barrel either, plus there were 7 holes center mass on my target which was fresh.
Anyways, just make sure you take your ear and eye protection seriously. I won't be shooting without eye pro again.... Ever.
