When in the Course of forum events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the moderational bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all posters are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Trolling, Butthurt and the pursuit of Animated GIFs. - That to secure these rights, Moderators are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the moderated, - That whenever any Form of Moderation becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the Posters to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Forum, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Trolling and Gifs. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Moderators long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that posters are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of bannings and post-editings, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Moderation, and to provide new Guards for their future lulz. - Such has been the patient sufferance of these Forums; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Moderation. The history of the present Administrator of OSA is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these Forums. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

I'm certain the colonists were not concerned about being banned from an internet forum; my guess is that they had more pressing concerns.

I am also confident that anyone who fought ol' King George probably found him a bit more oppressive than an OSA moderator.

Let's not be overly dramatic here.............

I meant the colonist might have feared the "banhammer" of King George, not the OSA moderators.

Wolfie, I wish you were correct about Tort Reform, but Michael Brown is exactly right. RickN advocating socialism. Ha ha You guys are all about the "free market" except when it comes to lawyers. Very hypocritical. Do you feel the same way about doctors? How about those who own rental property? Should there be rent control?

I love how you imply that somehow we [plaintiffs' lawyers] are doing something wrong simply because we make good money.

Hey JB,

I think you missed that he employed a little sarcasm. He wasn't actually advocating socializing lawyers but he was pointing out that personal injury attorneys surely have a huge financial interest that makes there opinions suspect, to say the least, and so would you feel as strongly opposed to reform if you lost your financial motive?

I don't know how this works in Okla, but I was listining to one of the talking heads on the radio today about tort reform.
I will admit my ignorance of the court system in general, so anything I say is purely hearsay.

The person calling in, said that in the court system (whatever state) has three opportunities by the Judge to determine if it is a "frivilous" law suit, at different stages of the hearing.
Again, I don't know. The person calling in was an Attorney.

They bantered back and forth, and I don't think either made a point that would prove their case.

Basically, I pretty much agree that anybody filing a "frivilous" law suit should pay if they loose, but its objective what is frivilous by the political background of the Judge.

A liberal judge may rule that its not frivilous, and a conservative judge may rule the other way.

So it goes to the Appeals process. Same deal.

Politics plays into the determination.

Then it goes to the supreme court, that is totally political. Both parties attempt to get a Supreme Court judge that is conservative, or liberal, appointed to office during their tenure.

So, what does justice come down to?

Politics. Period. End of Game.

One think I do agree with both sides of that conversation. IF you want to sue somebody, and loose the case, the person losing the case must pay all costs.

I have no direct financial interest in tort reform.

I just don't want insurance companies and corporations, the groups that have truly cut the middle class's throat, to get more protection than the ridiculous amount they already have.
