I was not sure where to ask about this.
I have a snake skin belt and buckle that my wifes grandfather made for me that I need some help with.
The leather backing is from a hide (not sure exactly what kind) that he had tanned. The belt is covered with a Timber rattle snake he caught in Colorado. The buckle backing is made out of stainless steel that he backed with a piece of deer hide and covered with diamond back skin.
I have long ago grown out of this belt! So for years it has been laying flat on a shelf in the top of my closet. It is rather dry now. I would like to condition it, then have it mounted into a shaddow box.
Do any of you know what products I should use or how I should condition the belt. I would hate to do anything that would discolor or harm the skin.
Thanks.
