OKEMAH, Okla. -- Authorities have ruled the possible explosive device inert. A bomb robot examined the object found on a gas line in Okfuskee County to determine if it was a threat.

Parts of the area were evacuated after authorities found what is reported to be a pipe bomb.

OKC FBI agent Clay Simmonds said a sherriff's deputy found the device at 11 a.m.

He said the deputy concluded it might be a bomb after seeing a timer attached to it.

Agent Simmonds said he wasn't sure how the bomb was discovered, if it was found during a routine patrol or a tip was called in.

So was it a bomb? An "inert" replica intended to look like a bomb? Or something else entirely?

Quit calling it a bomb if it wasn't, stupid media :grumble:

Wonder if they "ruled it inert" or rendered it inert...big difference.

At this stage of the game, I think they'd be as discrete as possible if it was an actual explosive device.
