I wouldnt really call it punishing either. But if you shoot it enough to sight in a scope or empty it at a bunch of pigs it gets pretty rough. And loud enough I have to use muffs even when hunting.
Ive never had a 444 but thats what I was looking for when I ran across this used 450 so thats what I ended up with.

So my .44 load which is 270gr at 1575 is only 1487 ft lb. I would have thought it was more than that out of a rifle. I will admit I really dont put too much faith in energy being a huge factor in performance on an animal. Seems to me it means more to who is holding the gun than how it does on an animal.

If I didnt have a 1895G in 450 I would look pretty serious at buying this thing.
