Thanks Okie. Thats some good info. I heard it compared to the 444 before. I promise you feel every lb-ft of energy with that 450 Marlin.
I load a 270gr Gold Dot soft point for my Ruger Carbine in 44 mag. I wonder what the energy numbers are on it.
I did a bunch of reloading for a friend in Stillwater when the .450 Marlin first came out. I don't think the round is punishing, but that round in a lever action is not forgiving. It a bolt gun it would be so much better, which I think the .458x2" was when it was created way before the .450 Marlin which is the same thing.
