Methinks the Chinese are having a good time releasing photos and testing our response...as well as using these photos to gleen more info about our own imagery assets.

Yeah - that's a pretty piss-poor image they've released. I used to hear "our satellites can count the dimples on a golf ball from space" in the '80s; surely the Chinese could have reverse engineered something that does a better job than that Polaroid they released to the press. I know we've given them enough technology. Maybe they're holding back to see what we come up with?

This debris is 75 miles from the floating objects that initially caused the Aussies's to send out HMAS Success. This aging hulk is a Durance class oiler. Her keel was laid at Cockatoo Island Dockyard in Sydney, Australia, back in 1980s. This aging Queen is the only ship of her class to have served in the 1991 Gulf War. The ship was fitted with a double hull during 2011, to meet International Maritime Organisation standards. The aging, upgraded HMAS Success was scheduled to be decommissioned and sold for scrap in 2017, but the refitting has given the Old Girl an extension of life to around 2020.

One of only two major war ships that Australia has, this floating wreck is on life support, barely making it past the finish line in each race to cut an ever shrinking military budget.

Not withstanding the ridiculous neglect afforded the Royal Australian Navy, not even a shadow of its former self, Australian saliors show elán.

Below is an image of the future, the shape of things to come in that region, perhaps we'll get a good glimpse of the nascent Chinese Navy in the search for Malaysia Flight 370.
