When I was about 10 or 12 years old, my father gave me a leather trifold wallet, a USA made Old Timer pocket knife (Stockman) and a cotton handkerchief. He said that every man should always carry these three items in his pockets on a daily basis.
Since that day, I've carried some sort of those 3 items daily. My preferences have obviously changed somewhat in the type of pocket knife, wallet and hankie, but yeah, I still tote a version of those three items every single day of my life.
Since I discovered them, probably a little over a year or so ago, I've been buying and carrying hanks from the husband and wife internet business known as GondekEDC. Max and Lauren Gondek are from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and they make and sell hanks for $10 each. They measure in at about 7.5x7.5, have a various pattern on one side and soft, smooth microfiber on the other. They have a ton of different patterns and dedigns and I think they are super cool as well as handy and utilitarian.
They even have a subscription called "The Hank of the Month Club" where for 10 bucks, they'll send you an exclusive pattern that is only available to the HOTMC members.
Furthermore, they can even make pouches, bags and other things that you can have made of that material (if you're a member) or from any other pattern they have in stock.
Anyways, Mrs. GED was asking me about them and I told her. Being the penny pincher that she is (this gal can squeeze a nickel until the Buffalo pukes) she declared, "I can make those."
So, one night in Hobby Lobby with her, I made my way to the fabric department and found a pattern that I absolutely fell in love with.
Here's the finished product...
The front...
...microfiber back.
I know it's not perfect, but hey, I thought she did awesome for her first try and I plan on totin' it with pride.
