Looks like the paddle switch in the diagram. Which has a switch disabling key.
Those old brush leads sure look like they got hot. Sometimes new brushes don't seat well.
May want to revisit the brushes. Especially if the commutator got heated up too much.
I'll take the brushes out again and give it another shot.

I just ordered a new circuit board, should get it next week. Let's see if that fixes the problem.

That looks nothing like my machine. Mine has only a knob where the fuse is housed in.

You said this is what my machine looks like then you say this does not look like your machine.

Looking at the brushes you may have too much carbon build up on the armature where they can't make good contact. If it's still under warranty I'd call Grizzly. If not ,if you can get the motor apart and clean the armature.
